Overview

The Drone Roof Survey

Our Drone Roof Survey is a focused, aerial-assisted inspection of the roof and everything on it — coverings, chimneys, flashings, valleys and rainwater goods. We capture close-up drone imagery of areas that can’t be seen or safely reached from the ground.

You get a clear, photo-rich report on the roof’s condition, any defects, and what needs attention.

Why a roof survey?

When a roof survey makes sense

Ideal when a full survey has flagged the roof, when a property looks fine at ground level but the roof is hidden, or when you simply want reassurance about one of the most expensive elements to repair.

Need the whole property assessed? A Level 3 Building Survey covers the roof as part of a full structural inspection.

    Yorkshire Timber Frame Houses

Yorkshire Timber Frame houses are a form of 1960s non-traditional construction characterised by platform timber framing, mixed external cladding, and pitched tiled roofs. While often visually distinctive, their long-term performance is closely linked to moisture control and the condition of the external envelope. Understanding the construction and inspection priorities is essential before purchase, as defects are often concealed within the fabric of the building.

The Youngman house is a distinctive non-traditional UK property type developed during the 1960s as part of the post-war housing programme. Typically built as detached bungalows, these houses use a platform timber frame with vertical timber boarding and lightweight roof coverings. While innovative for their time, their construction requires careful inspection, particularly in relation to timber condition, moisture ingress, and ageing roof materials.

Drone roof survey – frequently asked questions

What is a drone roof survey?

A drone roof survey uses a high-resolution camera drone to inspect a roof and chimney that can't be safely or closely reached from the ground. A chartered surveyor interprets the aerial images to assess the roof's condition and flag defects.

How much does a drone roof survey cost?

At Flettons, a drone roof survey starts from £399. The exact price depends on the property and location – enter your details for an instant, tailored quote.

When do I need a drone roof survey?

When you need to check the condition of a roof that's high, steep or otherwise inaccessible – as a buyer, homeowner, or before repairs – without the cost and risk of scaffolding.

What does the roof report include?

High-resolution images of the roof coverings, flashings, chimneys and gutters, with a chartered surveyor's commentary on condition and any defects or maintenance needed.

Can a drone inspect any roof?

Most roofs, weather and airspace permitting. We fly with trained, insured pilots and follow CAA rules; a few restricted locations may need prior permissions.

How long does a drone roof survey take?

The flight itself is quick, and your report follows shortly after. We keep you updated by email and SMS throughout.

Is a drone survey as good as a physical inspection?

For the roof it often captures detail a ground-level inspection can't reach, and it's always interpreted by a chartered surveyor rather than software.

Do you cover my area?

We provide drone roof surveys across London and the South East. Enter your details for an instant quote for your property.
